happy weekend...

Hats off to you darlings, we made it to Friday.  It's 82 (!) degrees here today!  Crazy, huh?

What are your plans this weekend?  We'll be doing house projects, which makes me happy, which some people may think is weird.  Paul is finishing a new coffee table for us and I'm determined to hang approximately 82 paintings I've been collecting.  Dylan will probably drive circles around us in his jeep and be happy as a clam.

Wherever you are, I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Some link love...

A cave hotel.  Let's go!

Pretty cupcake liners + Pretty (free!) Printables.

Behind the scenes of Black Swan: Costumes and Special Effects.  Aren't movies amazing?

Cashmere pillow puffs. {via DesignMom}

My favorite Etsy store right now.  I just ordered this pillow.

And so my IKEA obsession continues:  love this and this. (p.s. the second one looks amazing in person.)

I need a bunny.  Immediately.  {via for me, for you}

At some point in my life, I'm going to need to purchase a Maggie Austin cake.  Just because.  THEY'RE GORG!

Balance Act

{image via mary ruffle}

After spending two weeks at home, I'm finally back at work.   Somehow, my homebound self had forgotten the balancing act required to work full-time, live in the country and keep up with Dylan.  I'm sure I'm still getting my stamina back, but the past two days I've come home exhausted.  Will one of you come clean my house for me? Kidding.

When I'm really tired, I cling to my trusty organizational methods to keep myself sane.  I have to work at staying organized so I tend to be a bit obsessive about the way I go about my weekly routine.  One of the things I try hardest to keep up with is (da-da-duh): grocery shopping.  Brooke over at Inchmark has a great post on grocery lists and meal planning that's pretty similar to what I do.  I've found that by knowing our dinner plans for the week I spend less money at the grocery store and avoid that dreaded 5 o'clock 'what's for dinner?' moment.

And, in case you were wondering, tonight we're having these yummy pork chops.

It's bright and sunny in Houston today and I'm craving lunch on a sun-drenched patio.  I do love a good rainy day, but crisp, sunny days always make you feel better, don't they?  It makes me want to pick out pretty things for my hypothetical garden.

p.s. Don't you love her layers and easy braids?  To me, the ability to wear a sweater and feel the sun on my face is complete perfection!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day, lovelies!  Hope you all had a nice weekend.  It looks like my little family is on the edge of approaching some kind of normalcy after two weeks of sickness:  Dylan went back to school today and I'm back at work.  Poor, sweet Paul is fighting off a terrible toothache at the dentist right now so I'm hoping it won't be a serious issue and we'll all be back to our full, healthy selves very soon.

Dylan has a Valentine's Party (including a dance off : / ) at his school this afternoon, so I'm heading out early today.  Yesterday, we made adorable crayon hearts.  Dylan loved breaking the crayons and then watching them melt in the oven.

In honor of this day o' love: Lauren Fleishman's heart-warming photo series of couples married fifty years or more (!) (via Cup of Jo).  Plus, Anthropologie's wedding boutique, BHLDN (Beholden), launched today.  So pretty!  And, cheeky love pillows.
